Recognition of Prior Learning for UK and International Professionals: Caps that Protect the Brigant Award

Abstract

Working professionals arrive with competence and with requests for large exemptions. This audit of Brigant RPL claims shows that artefact-based, capped credit with a remaining synoptic assessment held the standard. Job-title waivers did not. Online applicants were not given easier RPL than campus applicants. That equality is the finding. University of Brigant should keep RPL narrow and published. A tuition-free online pathway that sells exemptions would destroy the Edinburgh award as well.
