Academic Senate Ratifies Synchronized Joint Capstone and Dissertation Defense Protocols

The Academic Senate of the University of Brigant has approved a comprehensive regulatory framework governing the examination and defense of dual-award dissertations and executive capstones. The protocols establish synchronized oral vivas, blind peer marking systems, and bilateral examination boards comprising appointed faculty from Brigant and partner institutions.

Under the new protocols, every dual-award candidate presents their final thesis defense before a panel consisting of a lead supervisor, a partner institution co-examiner, and an independent external chair. Digital viva recordings and detailed marking scorecards are archived in compliance with national quality assurance registries.

"A dual degree must represent doubly validated academic integrity," commented the Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies. "Our harmonized defense protocols ensure that a dissertation submitted for dual conferral undergoes the most rigorous scrutiny possible in contemporary academia."

The framework covers all dual MSc, MBA, and undergraduate honours research projects across all international partner faculties.
