Brigant Alumni-Founded CleanTech Enterprise Raises £85M Series B for Tidal Energy Arrays

NauticPower, a clean-energy venture founded by University of Brigant alumni Callum Ross and Maya Patel, has successfully closed an £85 million Series B funding round.

The company's submerged tidal turbines harness predictable marine currents to provide baseload clean electricity to island microgrids. Both founders credited Brigant's Enterprise Incubator for providing initial seed grants, patent guidance, and mentorship during their graduate studies.

"The interdisciplinary culture at Brigant — where engineering students work side by side with MBA strategists — gave us the foundation to turn complex fluid dynamics research into a commercial reality," said CEO Callum Ross.

NauticPower has committed to creating 50 new graduate engineering apprenticeships across Scotland and offering renewable energy capstone sponsorships for current Brigant students.
